RICA Project
Our study is about the system RICA, what means investigation robot of blind cell (Robot d’investigation de Cellule Aveugle). It’s a system that collects data of nuclear contamination from a room without any eye contact. In other words, it’s a nuclear inspection robot. It was design to record nuclear activity, and to locate the sources of radioactivity.
RICA is composed of different sub-systems. The mobile base is the « robot »in cleanly spoken. It’s the sub-system which go into the nuclearized cell and evolve in. It is linked to the command post by the umbilicus that transmits information and power to the mobile base. The command post is the Human-Machine Interface that allows an operator to control the mobile base and to see its environment. The multiplexer permits to manage information between the mobile base and the command post.

In the guidelineproject, we have to focus on the mobile base. We are interested by the crossing abilities of this sub-system. In the blind cells, the mobile base will face obstacle of different nature. It can be a pit, a lap or any other object that would be on the way. The mobile base of the robot must be able to cross these obstacles, guided by the operator through the camera.
The main crossing requirements are:
-
Cross a lap of 28 cm
-
Cross a pit with a ½ wheelbase (half a length of the robot)
-
Go up / down a step (s) of 30cm
